About Propiedad Minera Digital
We bring together, standardize and link public information on mining rights in Chile — bulletins, the concession cadastre, annual fees, court cases and auctions — so you can consult and analyze it in one place.
Who is it for?
- Lawyers and law firms: tracking applications and favorite concessions, alerts about overlaps and adjoining concessions, developments in court cases and approaching relevant legal deadlines.
- Mining companies, geologists and consultants: a concession map, tools for measuring and designing areas, importing geographic information and monitoring areas of interest.
- Investors and analysts: the auction monitor, annual fee payments, arrears and exposure to auction, statistics and historical series.
What you can consult
You can view concessions on the map, read Official Mining Bulletin publications on the day they are published, and consult geographic, registry, judicial, annual fee and auction information. Depending on your plan, you also have access to:
- Design tools: design concessions on the map and import your own KMZ files.
- Area reports: delimit an area on the map and generate a list of concessions within it.
- Context layers: IGM map sheets and place names, commune boundaries, rural parcels, national parks, priority sites, water rights, mining projects in the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA) and mining facilities.
- Areas of interest: save named areas so you can return to them and enable monitoring.
- Historical concessions: concessions applied for in the last five years and concessions whose roll number has been removed, useful for assessing extensions, associated manifestaciones or stalled proceedings.
Access levels are detailed on the subscriptions page.
Monitoring and automated alerts
Receive email alerts to follow your favorite concessions and monitor areas of interest, if your plan includes this service.
Statistics and reports
We produce regular statistics and reports for various institutions using a consolidated view of the mining cadastre. Our analyses combine concession counts and surface area, concession types, categories of holders, annual fee payments, arrears and exposure to auction, together with historical series and trends. We turn scattered data into comparable indicators and useful information for planning, policy design and decision-making.
Mining rights analysis
Establishing priority between concessions may seem straightforward, but it involves a wide range of circumstances and case law: in many cases, a judge determines it. Propiedad Minera Digital brings together and links the underlying information — publications, court cases and overlaps — so that analysis starts from organized, traceable information.
Sources and updates
We work with two types of sources:
- Mining information: the Official Mining Bulletins and the National Geology and Mining Service (SERNAGEOMIN) as the main sources, together with the General Treasury of the Republic (TGR), for annual fees, and the Judiciary (PJUD), for court cases.
- Reference information: the Military Geographic Institute (IGM), the General Water Directorate (DGA), the Environmental Assessment Service (SEA), the Library of the National Congress of Chile (BCN) and other public sources, providing cartographic, water, environmental and regulatory context.
Our work goes beyond reproducing these sources: we standardize their data, link supporting information and compare changes over time to provide an integrated view. Bulletins are incorporated on the day they are published; other sources are updated according to how frequently each organization publishes information, and we retain links to the original records.
How we prepare the information
The platform is a technical and legal support tool built from public records. Analysts dedicated to reviewing bulletins, case files and the mining cadastre are responsible for collecting, linking and interpreting these records. Their work is supported by specialized rules, automated checks and artificial intelligence agents based on large language models (LLMs) specialized in mining law.
Technical and legal rigor
The following sections explain the criteria and limitations used to build our information.
Status and display criteria
The active map view shows proceedings presumed to remain in force. To maintain that view, we apply these criteria:
- Exploration concessions: they are removed after a reasonable margin has elapsed beyond their calculated expiration date, allowing for a possible extension or exercise of the right to file a manifestación, whose publications may still be pending.
- Concessions marked as “Likely lapsed”: they remain visible while SERNAGEOMIN lists them as pending (en trámite), even when deadlines calculated from the available records suggest they would already have lapsed.
- Pending concessions beyond the legal deadlines to request the judgment or the survey (mensura): they are gradually removed from the active view as records are checked and updated.
Exceptionally, certain pedimentos or manifestaciones may legally remain pending despite incidents or delays that do not affect their legal deadlines. In such cases, the criteria used to clean up the active view may temporarily exclude them. We seek to identify these situations and restore the corresponding records; in any event, they remain available through the “Historical concessions” tool.
Coordinate system
Propiedad Minera Digital brings concessions together on the map in WGS84 coordinates while preserving their original coordinates, datum and zone. It applies regional parameters from the Military Geographic Institute (IGM) to transform PSAD56 and SAD69. Learn about these references, the scope of the transformations and modernization efforts in Coordinate system.
